You sit on the examination table and feel your nerves tingle even though this is a check-up.  The doctor’s gaze adds to the tension, and you start to question if you have been taking all the medication he prescribed.

At this time of the year with December waving from a distance, the doctor mentioned above represents your “New year’s resolutions”.  How many of your New Year’s resolutions have you accomplished thus far?

Why would a check-in be necessary?  Well, just as the doctor assesses your health, checking in on your resolutions is a way to evaluate your progress and asking, “am I there yet?”. 

How do you check-in?  Here are few steps:

  • Revisit the list of new Year’s resolutions you drew up at the start of the year.
  • Review and measure the progress of each resolution, have you achieved some of them? If so celebrate those achievements.
  • If you have not initiated some of the goals adjust them by breaking them down into smaller, manageable steps with specific deadlines.

Checking in on your progress mid-year gives you the opportunity to make the necessary adjustments to achieve your goals. This in turn, enhances your success rate and renews your motivation.
