In his book “The 8th Habit”, Stephen R. Covey quotes renowned musician and theologian Albert Schweitzer pointing to one of the most profound appreciations we can have about human interaction. Stephen quotes that “in everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flames by an encounter with another human being. When the fire goes out in us whether in business or the vision we have for our career, it is a call for expansion and through human interactions, new strategies can be explored while vision is re-energized and clarified.

When the inner fire goes out, many may feel overwhelmed with problems or challenges and might fear the place they find themselves in and to counter this feeling, begin to play life small. Bruce D. Schneider writes in “Energy Leadership” that “problems and challenges are creations of a fear-based perspective of life. When we transcend fear, what remains is opportunity”. We believe that when the fire goes out it is the best time to think even bigger than before because all that is being presented to us are opportunities to reach our actual potential.
